Day 261: Barn by Missy

barn

this is the barn in my backyard growing up... it was constructed solely to house my dad's motorcycle... it was MUCH bigger than my mom thought is was going to be, earning it the nickname 'the barn' rather than 'the shed'... this barn not only stored my dad's harley, but it also was the hiding place for my dad's zap comix and anything else he did not want my mother to find...

Day 260: Barber by Missy

griff's

i mentioned to my dad this morning that my theme today was barber... he suggested that i go up the street and around the corner to where there used to be a barber who worked out of his house... my dad couldn't remember if it was still there or not since the barber, aka 'griff', went outta business in the seventies when all the guys wore their hair long...
well. here it is. not operating, but still here, none the less.
i think 'griff' may be bitter...

Day 251: Bone by Missy

bone

this is an xray of starla bee's chest, obviously... poor thing has had MANY xrays in her short life so far... more than me!!
i'm pretty sure this was when we were following up her two (yes, two)
heart murmurs...
this photo though, made me recall a memory... picture it... little awkward, yet sassy as ever, 13 yr old missy in class looking at a boy's xray of his broken femur... what the boy didn't realize (!?!?!?) is that you could see his entire 'package' in the xray... i, knowing full well what we were looking at, pointed, & asked the kid what 'that' (his junk) was... he got ridiculously embarrassed and then angry and super nasty to me, which i deserved... i'll never forget that... i still feel horribly about it...
(don't judge me)

Day 249: Beach by Missy

beach

we spent this 90degree april day on the beach...
i got a sunburn on my back to match the burn on my front...
i could live on the beach...
so excited that this is possible already!!
(love this pic, too)
AND!
i came home to my repaired imac...
it's so sweet and quiet again...
: )

Day 248: Beware by Missy

devil

around these parts you must always beware of the jersey devil...
my friend really saw him!!

(i really love this pic)

Day 247: Bride by Missy

bride

ok. i cheated... twice, actually...
so todays theme was supposed to be beach, but i switched it up since i'm going to the shore on wednesday... no one will mind, i'm sure.
and this, of course, is a photoshopped pic... i found this yves saint laurent 1965 wedding dress pic and had to use it. i did however take the photo of myself today... that'll be there on my fickr so you can see me in all my unretouched glory...

Day 246: Bunny by Missy

bunny

i admit, the easter bunny did not make a basket delivery this year...
what's the point when candy and sweets are always readily available?
these are gross and they hurt my throat...
but i ate one anyway.

Day 243: Birch by Missy

birch

Birches
by
Robert Frost

When I see birches bend to left and right
Across the lines of straighter darker trees,
I like to think some boy's been swinging them.
But swinging doesn't bend them down to stay.
Ice-storms do that. Often you must have seen them
Loaded with ice a sunny winter morning
After a rain. They click upon themselves
As the breeze rises, and turn many-colored
As the stir cracks and crazes their enamel.
Soon the sun's warmth makes them shed crystal shells
Shattering and avalanching on the snow-crust--
Such heaps of broken glass to sweep away
You'd think the inner dome of heaven had fallen......
