Day 40: Disappointment by Nikki

The books that I loved and that got me into the vampire genre, back when I was 16, have been made into a new series. Exciting...except that the series is on the CW network.

A very possible disappointment. The jury remains out. Even Elena on my tv looks all "WTF? Maybe I should read the books to figure out what's going on."

Day 39: Height by Nikki

I work in an old mill building with really high ceilings, and half walls that they put in when they remodeled it. However, they kept the original wood work and pipes. It's kind of an odd contrast.

Day 38: Birthday by Nikki

Day 37: Phone by Nikki

I have had this phone since I was in my early teens, and back then I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Currently, it is residing it our "going to Goodwill" box, so I thought I would document it in all its clear plastic glory. It also has the most annoying ring I have ever heard.

Day 36: Leaf by Nikki

This is a copper rose with it's own copper leaf. Once upon a time, it actually smelled like a rose too.

Day 33: Happy by Nikki

During a particularly bad day in college, a group of us got the bright idea to take my collection of magazines and turn some extra shoeboxes (we had a LOT of those) into boxes of things that made us happy. I found mine last week. This is it. Inside is a collection of things, including letters of recommendation, ribbons from costume parties, wine corks, a letter from a purple rum monkey, and a banner from the New England Patriots division win...some year. I can't remember which. Some of the stuff now seems pretty random, but some of it truly brought a smile to my face again.

Happy.

Day 31: Introduction by Nikki

My name is Nikki (or Nicole, if you are family or co-worker) and I am posing here with my cat because she follows me pretty much everywhere. As of October, I will have been married for one year. I have been at my company for almost nine years, and during that time both my position and my physical location have changed multiple times. I collect books. I have kept many of my childhood stuffed animals. I love football. I am a huge talker, and a writer because writing lets me talk on paper. Recently I realized that photography lets me talk with pictures, and so I'm pretty into that too.

Day 26: Book by Nikki

Annabelle disapproves strongly of the textbook for my next class, which starts on Monday August 31st. "WTF," her face seems to say. "This book is crap!"

Day 19: Wood by Nikki

This was built by my husband using Popsicle sticks (made of wood!) and various other things. This is the larger piece that goes with the bridge shot I took the other day. Things have taken a turn for the worse for our lovely town- man in the black cloak has brought a reinforcements, and they are at the city gates.

Day 15: Light by Nikki

We have a sort of randomly placed skylight in our bathroom. It's high enough that it casts odd light in the room, but can't be opened and often looks like it should be more than what it actually is. In such a tiny room, I often feel like it is out of place, but the shaft of morning sunlight is nice.

Day 14: Street by Nikki

The street where the pub is. Sometimes the man in the black cloak hiding in the alley makes sneak attacks here. He's a shady bastard like that.

Day 13: Broken by Nikki

Day 12: Water by Nikki

I had many ideas for water, but it turns out I liked the way this shot turned out better than my experiment with raindrops on the car windshield. (Don't try that while driving, kids!) Good thing that New Hampshire has had a lot of water from the sky lately.

Day 11, Fungus by Nikki

I call this picture "Jumbled Mushrooms." I tried to think of other fungus, but this one kept coming back to me. Viva la pizza topping!

Day 10: Old by Nikki

I work in the renovated mills in the lovely city of Manchester, where they have taken various objects that used to make the mill run and turned them into "art." This item is so old that it isn't even labeled, it merely sits outside our main office and judges us all. I believe it is some sort of wheel or cog that once helped make textiles, or perhaps shoes. Whatever it did, it contributed to the river behind the mill smelling eight ways from Sunday on hot days. And it is old.

Day 8: Teeth by Nikki

The others aren't kidding- when four of us are in the same place on the same day, subjects for "teeth" grow limited. Luckily I have a variety of dragons and their teeth hanging around. I like that this guy has an overbite fang and an underbite fang going on.

Day 7: Animal by Nikki

Our cat Annabelle was gracious enough to stay still long enough for me to get a few shots of her today. She is the most important animal in my life, and it seemed only fitting to use her as my subject. Sorry I am so late to the game, I've really enjoyed looking at all of your photos!!
