Day 121: Rocket by Taylor

Its been a shit of a day, as Beccas bike was stolen amongst other little things (happening, not stolen.) Needless to say it wasn't a day for focusing on the fun, and if it wasn't for the fact that I had to go to campus for something else entirely, I would have forgotten that there is a rocket at the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium (which apparently has been renamed to something else). Taken with my phone because I also forgot to bring the camera with today.

Also, December themes are posted. Surprisingly, while all are Star Wars in nature, it doesn't seem that they can hinder anyone.

Day 120: Fire by Becca

The fiery Christmas Cactus (blooming right around Thanksgiving).

Day 120: Fire by Taylor

In the minds eye, my photo looked like Missys. In practice, I don't really know how to get what I want a lot of the time when it comes to photography. However, I am blaming the match for not being wooden. Yeah, thats the ticket...no wooden matches.

Day 120: Fire by Missy

Day 118: Sport by Missy

sports

i have to admit, when i hear the word 'sport', the first thing that comes to mind is the huey lewis & the news album, 'sports'...
i do LOVE sneakers, though... & when i wear my nikes, i feel quick and agile and very sporty...

(basketball sneakers + soccer ball = not really that sporty)

Day 117: Turkey by Taylor

Slowly but surely, I'm getting worse at my own blog. Trying to stay on top of it when I can, but as you can see...

December is right around the corner, and when I think December, I think Christmas, and when I think Christmas, I think Star Wars. So, I'm thinking that December may turn into a Star Wars themed month of themes. Please argue with me if you feel it should be otherwise, and yes I know that SW day is in May.

Day 116: Bake by Becca

Caramelized apple pie...fresh out of the oven...
I hope the crust comes out ok, I put too much butter in by accident, and therefore had to add more flour and water...well at least it looks tasty!!

Day 116: Bake by CC

You know the holidays are coming when the EasyBake ovens are suddenly multiplying in the stores! I used to love those little cakes.

Day 113: Pain by Missy

pain

you know those pains that feel good... well, i like to dig my fingernail into my gums... it hurts real bad... i've even made myself bleed in the past, but it feels good all at the same time, like scratching an insane itch...
i used to do it as a kid all the time, and even now, if i stub my toe or burn myself, i'll dig a nail in to feel that pain instead of the other... it's oddly comforting.
does that make me crazy?

Day 112: Candy by Missy

candy

I LOVE CANDY LOVES ME!!

Day 111: Beat by J.

Missy reminded me of today's theme just as I was packing up my drum machine. Our band played tonight with Catblatch's band. Pretty much everyone else I know played too, or was in attendance. Super fun night.

So here's my drum machine which provided the beats during our set, and Missy who DJ'd the beats after the show. (Iris popped in too!)

Also, I have a picture of my favorite record from yesterday that I still need to post.... but I'm really beat from tonight's show. I'll cheat and post it tomorrow. Too many rhymes.... too tired.

Day 108: Break by Missy

break

HOW TO BREAK AN EGG
1. Grasp the egg in your dominant hand.
2. Hold it between the thumb and first two fingers.
3. Now tap the egg firmly onto a hard surface to crack the shell. You should always use a flat surface to crack an egg rather than the edge of a counter or bowl because there is less likelihood that bits of the shell will go into the egg itself.
4. If the egg's side has not completely ruptured place your two thumbs in the cracked dent and pull apart.
5. Empty egg into a bowl or similar container before it hits the table.

Day 108: Break by CC

DSC02301
I don't get many breaks around here. There is always something to be done and someone who needs something. However, today I am finding myself with an hour and a half of nothing and it is awesome! I have decided I am going to take this break and put my feet up!

Day 107: Oil By CC

oil
My in-laws got me this awesome sunflower oil and vinegar set. My MIL even put the vinegar and oil in the jars. She added garlic and spices to the oil and it tastes awesome. However, I am an idiot and pushed the stopper too far one day and it fell into the oil. Now I have the bottle covered so I can still use the oil.

Day 106: Survive by Missy

survive

this is a shot of water boiling in my electric kettle.
every living creature needs water to survive...
if you're stranded on a deserted island, you'd want to boil your water before drinking...
i need boiled water to survive...

Day 105: Violent by Missy

violent

nothing more violent than someone hurting another person with their bare hands...
my best girlfriend and podcast partner, jessica, helped me out with tonight's shot...
(fake blood is sticky...)

Day 105: Violent by J.

A shotgun, fake flowers and a thumbs up. This picture is 1/3 violent, 1/3 phony, and 1/3 ridiculous. It's also an outtake from my brother's Video Imaging class project, which will be 100% ridiculous. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Day 102: Travel by Missy

travel

by manipulating the 10th spatial dimension, i altered the dark energy in three large spatial dimensions: height, width and length...........
causing my shutter to travel faster than the speed of light.......
(btw. i know that doesn't make sense...)

Day 102: Travel by Taylor

Becca and I are starting to prep for our friends Jeremy and Kristies wedding in Tahoe. Its going to be a grand time, and being in the wedding party, I've been informed that it is my job to plan a 50 person murder mystery for the reception. Not a problem, just not sure if he's serious. Its in March if you're interested in attending as well, I'm sure they won't mind.

Also, I know I have been slacking, and I am trying to play catchup, mostly because I'm 14 days behind, so you can find my late contributions for terror, stuffed, slick, warmth, stunning, truck, and closure here. More to come as we move forward. Big thanks to Missy and CC for keeping things going, love you for it.

DAY 102: Travel by CC

DSC02284
Travel is not a word I use often. I am content staying where I am, but I wouldn't mind taking a trip around the world like the HMS Beagle did.

Day 101: Terror by Taylor

This is my cookie jar from growing up, which was painted by my aunt (or so I have led myself to believe). When my parents moved several years ago, the cookie jar went into storage in one of those under the counter cabinets with the multi-level lazy suzan shelf thing. When little cousins under the age of 2 would come to visit, they would go exploring the kitchen opening all the doors thinking it was great fun. when they would get to Cookies cabinet, they'd be laughing, and would start to spin the lazy suzan. eventually Cookie Monster and the 2 year old would come eye to eye, and next thing you know the 2 year old would be running away crying. This happened to at least 4 different little ones that I can recall, and this is post-college so I was not home very often.

The cat is pretty frightening too.

Day 101: Terror by Missy

terror

i really wanted to get a shot of lots of birds on wires today... there's something eerie about that sight to me... but upon returning home today, hundreds, no, thousands of black birds were in the trees all around our house making the noisiest of rackets?! i got a few shots of them in the trees before they all took off, creating a more terror-ific scene!?!?!
(i love birds, btw!)

Day 99: Stuffed by Taylor

Becca had a strong desire to eat stuffed shells tonight...so we had stuffed shells.

Day 99: Stuffed by Missy

Everyone was so stuffed at Elle's party today that no one had room for cake!! Now I have all this crazy hot pink cake left. (Also, sorry I left you hanging yesterday Missy....my break is over.)

Day 98: Erupt by Missy

erupt

this heavenly salt water eruption (of sorts) is what we use whenever we have sinus issues...

Day 97: Slick by Taylor

Its pretty amazing as to the amount of shit that will come out of a vechicle. This was found at a local gas station after a truck pulled away from the pump. its about 5 inches by 6 inches in size, so if this was what was left after however long it takes to fill up, imagine when it parks overnight.

Day 87: Slick by J.

Went to see The Get Up Kids tonight. Brought my camera to a picture of Matt Pryor's hair. Back in the day it was pretty slick, but nowadays it's less slick (and also less thick). But they're still as awesome as ever.

Larger version.

Day 97: Slick by Missy

slick

this is the slicked hair of michael (one of my very best friends), who was getting his hair cut tonight in my kitchen... within the last two months, i've had the rare honor of capturing him on film twice now... some may say that that's even more evidence of his going soft over the last few years, but i say 'NAY!'... someone this slick, rebellious, & cool doesn't get the nickname 'snake' and ever go soft...

Day 96: Warmth by Taylor

Pretty much we can rely on the cat to find the warmest spots in the house, such as on the back of the couch right in front of the window. We also know how warm it is based on how fast he falls asleep.
