i opted to photograph a mushroom, as well, over mildew, rust, or smut... and i also crossed my fingers and hoped this little red capped treasure would still be in the garden this morning...
i found a poem about 'the mushroom' by emily dickinson and i absolutely love the first line... 'the mushroom is the elf of plants'...
i hope this photo has the look i was aiming to capture, which was a sorta fantastical mystical look... like you might really see an elf sitting on the cap or fairy flitting by...
It does look like I would find an elf on it. I can't believe you had such a cool mushroom in your yard. I never see the red ones.
